Hi guys! Here's another update about what we've been up to this year. We've done a couple of home gigs in and around Edinburgh, as well as a few gigs up further North. The weather's been beautiful and the crowds have been excellent! On top of that, our keyboardist Ben's leg is finally on the mend. Well done to him for making it through!
We had a great wedding on Sherbrooke Castle earlier this month. Their first dance was Ellie Goulding's modern classic love song, "How long will I love you". It's a guaranteed way to set your night off with the right atmosphere. This crowd were all about the ceilidh! 'Strip the Willow' was a lot of fun - we love a bit of organised chaos!
A week later, we got the chance to play at one if our favourite venues in all of Scotland. Brig O'doon has strong ties to the poetry of Robert Burns and is one of the most romantic venues in the country. It's a perfect place for a traditionally Scottish wedding! Another amazing first dance choice - 'All of Me' by John Legend. The lyrics encapsulate the vows that couples make to each other - to love the other person for everything they are.
Myers Castle is one of Scotland's newer wedding venues. So new that we almost drove past it! Once we arrived, we set up to play in a beautiful marquee with a great, spacious dance floor. The music sounded great in the hall and for the buffet, the caterers made use of the venue's stone baked pizza oven! A delicious twist.
Our most recent wedding was up in beautiful Fochabers. We got to enjoy a long and very scenic drive all the way from Edinburgh through the Cairngorms. The view was breathtaking! We managed a quick stop off at Loch Morlich to take some great snaps of one of Ben's favourite childhood holiday destinations. As you can see, he's finally back on two legs!
The venue for the night was Inchberry Hall. Secluded and scenic, the hall had a perfect romantic atmosphere. An usual first dance choice for this one - a traditional 'Grand March' led by the groom's Orcadian uncle! It was fascinating to see this difficult and intricate dance performed live.
Back in Edinburgh, we performed another successful gig at the city's favourite Irish bar, Finnegans Wake. These nights are always a great chance for couples to come and see us play and ask us specific questions about their big day. Thanks to everyone who came along and spoke to us! It was great to meet all of you and we hope you had a good time.
