Music For Scotland has performed at some huge events and this year our very own band Pork Pie will be smashing it out of the park by entertaining revellers at Scotland’s biggest event of the year – the Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party 2019.
This year, the event is set to be even bigger and will feature massive talent such as headliners Idlewild and DJ Mark Ronson, with the festivities expanding to include the Royal Mile for the first time. Edinburgh’s ska band, Pork Pie, will be appearing alongside Soft Cell’s Marc Almond, Keir Gibson and Glasgow’s band The Ninth Wave, to name just a few.
Pork Pie has previously performed at the Hogmanay Street Party and, on that memorable occasion, one of the members of the band (who shall remain nameless) split his trousers right down the back, while the BBC filmed the event! Pork Pie are the definition of a “big” ska band with a brass section, keys, and guitars as well as a seemingly never-ending amount of energy. Their set list is extensive and covers everything from Paolo Nutini (who the band also performed with in Glasgow), to The Specials, The Blues Brothers ad Bob Marley. The band’s last performance at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay really got the party going and was one of the band’s favourite experiences so they can’t wait to welcome in 2020 with their signature enthusiasm!
This year, the 3-day event will start on the 30th of December with a Torchlight Procession and carry on into the 31st with the Ceilidh Under the Castle, the annual Street Party and the after party, launching us into the 1st of January 2020 in style, at the stunning McEwan Hall. For those of you needing to refresh a wee bit on the morning of the 1st, you can take the plunge into the Firth of Forth at the Loony Dook or carry on the dancing with your nearest and dearest by attending the First Footers Family Ceilidh. There’s truly something for everyone.
