10 Oct 2016 The Apollos
As we load into some of Scotland's best wedding venues through the crisp autumn leaves, it gave us a chance to look back on some of the great moments from our latest month of gorgeous weddings. At the start of this month, we arrived at the gorgeous Forest Hills Hotel for Gordon & Jessica's reception. After a beautiful first dance ('Don't Worry Bout Me' - Frances) and a good boogie, these two went outside to run through an arch of their closest friends and family waving sparklers at them!
It looked great, but in Jessica's words, "I was terrified!!". Gordon and Jessica were nice enough to even give us their own 'Wedding Survival Kit' which consisted of five bottles of Irn Bru and five Twixes. I don't know how they knew our two main sources of wedding band fuel either!
Next week, it was off to Aberdeen for Christine and Dale's wedding at Ardoe House Hotel. John, Ben and I arrived a bit earlier to play some accompanying acoustic covers for their guests' drinks reception. With nothing but an acoustic guitars, keys and a violin, we played covers of 'If I Ain't Got You', 'Budapest', 'It Must Be Love' and 'Firework', to name a few. If you want us to play for your drinks reception or ceremony, just let Music For Scotland know at the time of booking. It can also be added on as an extra if you change your mind later!
We then headed off to Piperdam Drive for Lesley and Kirsty's wedding! Lesley is a paralympian and former military policewoman. We couldn't have been more honoured to play for someone who's contributed so much to our country. Their classy first dance choice was 'At Last' by Etta James - we'll be sure to add that one to the set list! Many happy tears were shed.
Later that week, we were back at The Classic Grand for Music for Scotland's wedding band showcase! Thank you to all the lovely couples who came along to see us and have a chat about their big day. It makes a huge difference to meet you guys beforehand so you get a chance to ask specifics about your wedding and any special requests you may have!
That Friday, we played Charlotte and Martin's wedding in the spectacularly fancy Cameron House Hotel! These guys were very much up for a ceilidh despite having *ahem* limited experience in the area. We had so much teaching you guys this fun and exhausting dance! We loved how you decided to put your own spin on it as well. Nothing will beat the incredible conga line that was started during 'Sorry' by Justin Bieber. That was in a class of its own!
Last week, we were back at the beautiful Airth Castle for David and Vineta's wedding. Another gorgeous first dance choice - 'Beneath Your Beautiful' by Labrinth ft. Emile Sande. John and I love learning new duets, and this was no different! Although they were a small crowd, they were clearly mighty when it came to the dance floor!
Looks like we're not giving up hope on that Irn Bru sponsorship deal...
We can't believe how quickly this year has flown by! We're brimming with gigs in December, and will be very busy in January roadtripping up and down gorgeous Scotland for different events. If you want to come see us play live, why not head along to one of our upcoming gigs at Finnegans Wake? Full details will be on our official facebook page in due course.
Until then, here's to a great end to 2016 (roll on 2017)!!
