We've had a very busy few weeks with it being 'Wedding Season'! This year has definitely had the summer of love, with the Apollos have travelled up and down the country, playing for lots of absolutely stunning weddings. We also had a really successful showcase this month, where we live streamed our performance on Facebook and got to chat with lots of couples looking to book us for their special day. Last week, Chris and Susan got married in St Andrews and hosted their reception in a very unique wee restaurant named Forgan's. There are no words for how pretty this venue was! It reminded us of a barn that had been transformed into an elegant dancehall. Their request was 'Fast Car' by the legendary Tracy Chapman. A solid choice for a slow dance and one of Fiona's favourites. We might just have to keep it in the set!
Another highlight of the month was Ross and Creina's wedding in Aberfeldy. They had their wedding at the gorgeous Moness Resort, and they definitely win our award for 'Most Cakes at a Wedding'!
Another great first dance choice here - Michael Buble's version of 'Crazy Love'. After the break, we were excited to invite up a guest performer to play for the bride and groom. The bride's niece, Orla, played the ukelele brilliantly and had such a lovely voice. She definitely has a bright future in music!
Last night, we played for Mark and Lena's guests at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. For their first dance, they chose The Civil Wars' haunting version of Leonard Cohen's 'Dance Me to the End of Love'. These guys loved the ceilidh, even though half of the guests had never done it before!
Our next showcase will be on the 9th August at the Classic Grand in Glasgow.
