Couples typically choose to tie the knot in the summer (the June bride), or in the spring when the flowers are all in bloom. But just as there are a lot of good reasons to hold your wedding during these popular seasons, there are just as many (if not more, although this is up for debate) reasons to choose getting hitched in the fall.
And why not? Having your wedding during the autumn season can be pretty romantic! Still not convinced? Here are five perfectly sensible reasons why you should have an autumn wedding.
1. The foliage and natural decorations
Fresh flowers look gorgeous and all, but they can never match the richly-hued leaves that run rampant in the fall. Reds, oranges, yellows, and brown all make for the perfect backdrop, especially for outdoor weddings.
This is your chance to let your creativity shine, and make full use of the natural decorations that abound during this season. Somehow, everything tends to look magical in the fall.
2. Temperate Weather
Couples tend to have outdoor weddings in the summer when the sun is almost always expected to be out. But with the sunshine also comes the steaminess that is common in the summer, and this could greatly affect the mood of the party as guests could find themselves squirming in their dapper suits as the ceremony progresses.
Autumn, on the other hand, offers cooler temperatures, which are just perfect for outdoor ceremonies. Guests won’t need to perpetually fan themselves, and make-up is practically melt-proof. Just remember to prepare theme-colored blankets or wraps in case it starts to get a bit chilly, particularly at night.
3. Romantic and Vintage-inspired Fashion Options
While long-sleeved dresses are highly impractical during the summer season, autumn is the perfect time to try out those romantic and vintage-inspired dresses that have always caught your attention. Cooler temperatures make the elegant lace and sleeves a popular choice, and goes very well indeed with the gorgeous backdrop of fall.
Fur can even be incorporated into the wedding ensembles without looking too out of place, and boutonnieres with some of the season’s berries and leaves provide that perfect pop of color on an otherwise crisp and stiff suit.
4. Cost-friendlier
Couples are less likely to be in competition with other soon-to-be-wed couples who typically choose spring or summer to have their wedding. This not only means that you probably would have an easier time booking venues, it also means things tend to be a bit cheaper - and that includes vendors and venues.
Even your favorite live wedding band may be more agreeable to negotiating prices as they would want to keep bookings flowing through the lean months when weddings aren’t popular. Also, with the natural decorations that are abundant during this season, you won’t have to spend too much on decorations!
5. Gorgeous color palettes
Autumn foliage makes for a very good backdrop for a wide range of gorgeous colors that you would normally feel skeptical about using during summer or spring. Rich jewel tones, in particular, flatter a variety of skin tones, and pop out amidst all the yellows, oranges, and reds that abound in autumn. This is the perfect season to have fun with color!
